Acupuncture is a part of a 3000 year old medical system developed in China. It is one of the oldest medical systems in continuous use to this day and is practiced world wide.
An acupuncture happy hour session provides a unique treatment. It requires no intake or diagnostic examine. The propose is to simply help calm and re-balance the body.
The session is done in a group setting and requires no clothing to be removed. Working in a group not only benefits the individual receive treatment but also adds to the synergetic calming and healing effect felt by the whole group.
Five hair thin acupuncture needles are placed on active points in each ear. The ears are chosen because they are easy to access and the ears are one of the bodies micro-systems, i.e. the whole body is represented in the ear, therefore the whole body can be treated from the ear. The points chosen are empirically known to balance the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems and balance the three primary detox organs (liver, kidneys and lungs) of the body. These points are also known to increase the release of endorphins, your bodies feel good hormone.
Once the needles are inserted, most people close there eyes and relax. Some fall asleep, this is ok. Usually people know when they are ready to have the needles removed and will either open their eyes or may signal the acupuncturist. Usually the acupuncturist will also know when you are ready. After needles are removed, you are free to have some tea and quietly chat with others.
You can arrive between 4:30pm and 7:00pm. You can choose a reclining chair to sit in or wait until a chair becomes available. Once seated, you will be given an alcohol pad to swab the inside areas of both ears, then the acupuncturist will begin to insert the needles. The session may last between 30 to 45 minutes.
Though acupuncture happy hour is held once a month, you may choose to come in any day Community Acupuncture sessions are held to receive the same treatment or make an appointment for a health consultation and community acupuncture or private acupuncture sessions.
